Asthma Clinic
Asthma is responsible for one death each week in South Australia. Evidence indicates that up to 60% of asthma deaths may be associated with avoidable factors.
From August 2001, General Practitioners in the Murray Mallee have been referring asthmatic patients to a local Asthma Clinic. The Clinics, run by a Registered Nurse, include lung function testing, education regarding medications and equipment, and result in an individual asthma action plan being developed for each patient in consultation with their General Practitioner. These plans aim to help patients and their families and carers successfully manage their asthma.
Regular clinics are held at Bridge Clinic.
For your referral to an Asthma Clinic, please speak to your General Practitioner.
The Asthma Clinics are funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care.
