Located adjacent to the River Murray, Murray Bridge offers a diverse range of water and other sporting and social activities.

With a Mediterranean style climate of hot dry summers and crisp mild winters, the average daily maximum temperatures range from 25-33 degrees in the summer to 15-17 degrees in the winter.
 

 

COMMUNITY FACILITIES

The town supports a strong business community. Major employers include Woolworths bulk warehouse, Hardy Irrigation, Clipsal Electrical, Ridley's Grain Mills and service industries to surrounding farming areas.

Horseracing is a key regional industry and the Murray Bridge Racing Club has what is considered to be one of SA's most picturesque tracks.

An 18 hole golf course, lawn bowls, tennis courts, basketball stadium, football, netball, soccer and rifle clubs are just a few of the town's sporting attractions. In addition there is the full spectrum of water sports - rowing, sailing speedboat racing, skiing, fishing and houseboats on the mighty River Murray.

There are three public and three private primary schools and secondary education is offered at Murray Bridge High School and Unity College.

A campus of the Onkaparinga College of Technical and Further Education is located in Murray Bridge offering a range of tertiary courses by both attendance and distance education.

Murray Bridge is situated 10 minutes east of Monarto, home of the Monarto Zoological Park, which is one of South Australia's most beautiful nature sanctuary incorporating a natural wilderness retreat and an open range zoological park. The park is combined in a centre for conservation and enjoyment of wildlife and nature.
